    Desert Adventures Red Jeep Tours and Events (www.red-jeep.com) is the premier outdoor adventure company in the Greater Palm Springs area.   In addition to our popular Red Jeep Tours, we offer sightseeing and hiking tours, team-building activities, as well as weddings, corporate events and social parties at our unique outdoor event venues at our private and exclusive Metate Ranch location in the Indio Hills in Greater Palm Springs, California.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Group Operations Manager is a salaried, seasonal (September – June), full time (30 - 40 hours / week) employee.   Desert Adventures offers a competitive benefits package (after probationary period) with medical, vision, paid sick leave, and 401K matching.  This person is responsible for the design, pricing, planning, and production of weddings and group events and for the coordination and execution of all group tour, team-building, and activity programs.  The Group Operations Manager serves as the primary contact for the client once a group program is contracted and will work with the client, staff and through execution to ensure that Desert Adventures provides the experiences and services promised and that the expectations of the client are exceeded to promote client retention and referrals.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • ·         Minimum 2 years’ experience with event design, pricing, planning, production, and management.   Experience planning corporate events and weddings at outdoor venues is highly desirable.
    • ·         Must possess strong mathematical skills (be able to calculate percentages, compute mark-ups, prepare proposals using mathematical equations, etc.).
    • ·         Must be computer literate (PC and Android) with mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat, and the ability to learn industry specific software.
    • ·         Must possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
    • ·         Must be able to drive a stick-shift vehicle – Employees in this position must be willing and able to learn to do an abbreviated Jeep tour and venue site inspection driving one of our classic Jeep CJ-8 Scramblers or our company SUV.
    • ·         Must possess strong organization and time management skills.
    • ·         Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills and be able to work with diverse groups of clients, suppliers/partners, and employees.
    • ·         Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret client proposal requirements, vendor contracts, financial reports, and other legal documents. 
    • ·         Must possess exceptional attention to detail.
    • ·         Must be able to work on multiple programs simultaneously, with deadlines.
    • ·         Must maintain a can-do, client-focused, can-do attitude at all times.
    • ·         Must be willing to work as part of a team.
    • ·         Must be willing to work through the peaks and valleys of hectic work schedules, including working nights, weekends, and holidays, according to business demands (September through June).
    • ·         Working knowledge of local attractions, vendors, and hotels is highly desirable.
    • ·         Must be able to respond to common inquires or complaints from clients, supplier/partners, and co-workers. 
    • ·         Ability to prepare reports and write business correspondence.
    • ·         Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, suppliers, and hoteliers.
    • ·         Must be able to work well with all levels of management and staff, clients, and supplier/ partners.
    • ·         Must have ability to manage and maintain control during times of stress.  Must be able to “think on one’s feet” to solve whatever challenges may present themselves on a program.
    • ·         Easy outgoing personality a plus.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

    There are aspects of this job that are physically demanding and applicants should be:

    • ·         Able to lift 40 pounds. 
    • ·         Able and willing to  work extended periods outdoors.
    • ·         Able and willing to work in extreme weather conditions (hot or windy).
    • ·         Able to stand for extended periods.
    • ·         Willing and able to work late at night and / or into the early morning.
